Match Review | Women’s Reserve Grade Grand Final
A GOAL in the 87th minute saw Blacktown Spartans beat Manly United 1-0 in the women’s Reserve Grade decider on Sunday.
It was a harsh result for Chris Williams’ squad, who bossed the contest but couldn’t find the back of the net at Valentine Sports Park.
“Disappointing, but that’s football,” the coach said.
“We paid the price for not taking our chances and Spartans scored from a set piece.
“It was a great season, we won the league by nine points.
“We will enjoy a break now and then get stuck into pre-season.”
It was better news for United’s 20s squad on Saturday night.
Andrew Christiansen’s boys beat Bonnyrigg 2-0 at Seymour Shaw Park to move through to the grand final at Leichhardt Oval on September 11.
