Manly United stung by Stingrays
Manly United’s impressive three-game winning streak has come to an end, beaten 2-1 by Illawarra Stingrays on Sunday afternoon at Cromer Park.
In form striker Sophie Harding gave the hosts the lead, only to see the away side seal the result with two well taken goals.
A crestfallen Chris Williams conceded it was ‘just one of those days.”
“They (Illawarra) played well and were well organised…but it was the same old story for us – missing way too many chances in front of goal as well as individual mistakes in key moments,” the Manly coach said.
“It was very similar to the Macarthur game (in round one) – we created plenty, but didn’t finish them.
“We will work hard at training this week and prepare for Blacktown Spartans at their place next Sunday.”
Manly have dropped to fifth spot on the ladder following Sunday’s defeat.
