Manly United vs Bankstown City FC Review
MANLY United were left pondering what may have been following Sunday’s 4-3 defeat against Bankstown.
In a performance coach Chris Williams labelled ‘disappointing’, the hosts recovered from a 2-0 deficit at halftime to make it 3-3 early in the second half – only to then concede for a fourth time.
“We showed plenty of heart and effort to get back into the game, but it wasn’t to be,” Williams said when reflecting on the end to end encounter at Cromer Park.
“Reality is you can’t gift teams goals and expect to be winning games..we were naïve at times when it came to our defending.
“We threw it away, it was heartbreaking to watch.. we just have to be better without the ball.”
Emily Minett and Maddy Zahra were on the scoresheet for Manly, with the away side also scoring an own goal in a frantic second half.
United now find themselves in eighth spot on the ladder after four rounds.
They are next in action on Sunday, April 7 in a derby versus Northern Tigers at North Turramurra from 3.30pm.
