NPL- Manly United vs Northbridge FC Bulls Preview
Manly United take on the Northbridge FC Bulls this Saturday at Cromer Park in what will be their final match of pre-season campaign. The game kicks off at 7pm.
The home side are coming into this clash on the back of a 4-2 victory over the MWFA Select side. Look for them to fire on all cylinders in this affair.
Last season through 11 games, the Bulls conceded 18 goals, which is something Manly will be looking to capitalise on throughout the match.
Leading that charge will be former Sydney FC and Forest Killarney striker Ben Koop, who once scored a hat trick against Manly United while at Sydney FC. Dejan Pandurevic and Richie Cardozo are another two players who will hope to have an explosive impact on the field in the lead up to the season. Koop found the back of the net twice in his latest appearance thanks to his tactical awareness. Both times he was ready to pounce.
Pandurevic opened the scoring last timeout and during his three previous years with MUFC, he scored a very impressive 23 goals. The former Young Socceroo will really put the Bulls defence to the test.
Cardozo also scored last start with a beautiful free kick. He showed that when he gets his chances, he can take them as well as anybody else in the NPL. For some of Northbridge’s younger players, his experience will pose a serious threat.
Last campaign Northbridge scored just three fewer goals than Manly (14 vs 11). So in defence, the likes of Sam Benton and Kieren Paull will be key.
Benton stood up big for MUFC and when MWFA Select were threatening to bring the game back in the second half he made some key saves against some fairly difficult shots.
With both sides boasting a lot of local, young talent to their sides, this clash is what football is all about.
