Manly United Football Club would like to congratulate Ray Fanning on being inducted as a Life Member for his continuous commitment and instrumental role he played in creating the Manly United we see today.
Ray first became involved at Manly United in 1992 as a coach of one of the Youth League teams after being involved with BTH and Wakehurst Football Club.
He coached again in 1993 before adding the role of Rep Convenor in 1994, a position he held through to 2001.
Ray also joined the Executive of the MWFA in 2002 and served as the MWFA President from 2006 to 2014.
During that time he was also Member of the Manly United Board, as well as the District Club and Licenced Club – using his roles in all entities to grow the Cromer Park complex into what it is today.
Ray is a Life Member of the MWFA (2004) and the recipient of the Football NSW George Churchward Medal (2014).
As well as a long-term role as the Manly United Chairman, Ray is also the Club’s Football NSW Standing Committee Member.
But it was off the field where Ray made his biggest mark on the sport.
He was instrumental in creating the Development Fund that delivered lights and then the grandstand to Cromer Park and played a leading role in converting the Cromer Park No. 1 field from grass to synthetic.
