2022 Here We Go

Just like that the football season is back again!

Manly United’s Boys Youth League kick off their 2022 season this Saturday, 19 February, against Western Sydney Wanderers at Wanderers Football Park Main from 8:30am.

U13’s to U18’s Youth Boys will be the first Manly teams to take to the fields for this year’s seasons.

With the 2021 season being cut short due to COVID the players are looking forward to playing football again.

Sam Gallagher, Manly United’s technical director, and the coaches share the same excitement for the 2022 season.

“Our main hope is that we can have a full season of uninterrupted football” Gallagher said.

“I think the players are wanting to get out there and play some games, enjoy their football while being really competitive and striving for excellence as a team and as individuals.”

The Boys Youth League have already started working towards achieving excellence with preseason kicking off back in January.

“The boys have been working hard to get fitter, improve technically and learn as a team to give themselves the best opportunity to put their best foot forwards come competition time.

“We were also lucky enough to organise a pre-season friendly against the Wanderers and only played the A League club 2 weeks ago.

“It was a tough day out at Wanderers Football Park; however, some lessons were learnt and with 2 weeks of hard work in training and welcoming players back to the squads, we’re really looking forward to the challenge.”

Gallagher knows his coaches are also ready for the challenge and aiming for a successful season.

“For coaches, we are hoping to provide a great year for players to grow and develop as footballers and as people while striving to be really competitive in the BYL competition.”

With the players and coaches ready to start all the preseason work will come into action this weekend.

“Now that the season here and all the teams, players, parents, coaches and support staff are all very excited for it to get underway.

“Fingers crossed we get through till September with a full roster of games and a full season for these young players to develop and enjoy their year!”
