Can the Manly United First Grade Women remain undefeated against MWFA?
Manly United’s First Grade Women take on The MWFA Women’s Select Team this Thursday, 3 March, 7:30pm on Cromer Park 2 in their annual battle.
The MWFA Women’s Select are coming off a strong 4-1 win against the Northern Suburbs Select team last Thursday night. Whilst Manly United have been putting in the hard work during their preseason.
Kyle Cannon (Manly Allambie) is confident leading his MWFA team into the match on Thursday night.
“A lot of (if not all) the girls used to play at that level, so it will be a really good test.” Cannon said.
The MWFA women will be drawing on their past experience of playing at a representative level on Thursday night to bring the underdog story to life, just like the MWFA Men’s Select team did last week.
Manly United will not be easy to defeat though with Wakehurst junior and Manly United veteran Emily Minett set to take her position at the top of the pitch.
Some new faces will also be making an appearance for Manly United in this year’s match, with Alexia Forner and Nicola Simmons joining the club the women will be wanting to show the Manly Warringah football community why they’ve been signed for the season.
MWFA will not be short of talent though. Manly Allambie’s Georgia Thomson will captain the side once again whilst controlling the midfield alongside Select team veteran Beth Sweeny (Beacon Hill).
Sam Spackman (Manly Vale) will be another putting pressure on the Manly Untied team, having scored two goals in last week’s match against NSFA she has the taste for scoring.
However, Manly United’s goalkeeper, Beacon Hill junior and Manly United player for the past 14 years, Nicole Simonsen will be making sure her team walks away with a clean sweep.
With both sides having talent across the park, it will be an entertaining match for any football fan to watch.
