Phoebe Gilbane – A True Female Football Champion
A role model and inspiration to the young girls at Manly United Phoebe Gilbane, is exactly the person Female Football Week celebrates.
2022 marks her 7th season playing at the club where she plays in the first-grade squad.
Not only a long-term player for Manly, but Phoebe has also taken on the role of coaching and developing our emerging football stars.
As the girl’s youth league under 15’s assistant coach and coach of one of Manly United’s development teams, Phoebe is without a doubt an idol and is helping grow not just the female game but football as well.
You can see the impact Gilbane has had on the younger players through the support they give to her in return.
“It isn’t at every club where you see SAP and youth league player supporting the senior squad at games on Sunday nights at 5:00. This is a great reflective of the family environment of the club.” Gilbane said.
As the World Cup quickly approaches Gilbane is more excited than even to be involved in the female side of the game.
“I think now more than ever it is great to be a part of the female game, particularly with the World Cup coming to Australia.
“There is so many opportunities for girls and women to be a part of the game in many different ways.”
Manly United are grateful to have Phoebe as part of our family and are excited to celebrate her and her commitment to not just the club but the game, this Female Football Week.
