Manly United Say Goodbye to NPL Champion
Starting at Manly United 15 years ago it is with great sadness that Manly United say goodbye to Jane Vanzino after her final game in the Women’s First Grade team against MacArthur Rams two weeks ago.
Jane Vanzino started her footballing career at Pittwater RSL FC in the Manly Warringah Football Association where she played on Saturday mornings in the mixed competition.
Falling in love with the game Vanzino decided to join Manly United in what is now known as the Girls Skills Acquisition Program (SAP).
Progressing through the ranks at Manly United Vanzino made her way to the women’s senior squad.
Since joining the squad Vanzino has been a key player for the team including in the 2020 NSW NPL Women’s Grand Final when Manly United defeated Sydney University SFC 2-1 to secure the championship.
Off the field Vanzino is just as fantastic and thankfully she won’t be too far from Cromer Park.
“I will still be around, either watching the girls or doing what I can from afar” Vanzino said.
“I will miss the close friends that I have made through manly, especially Nicole Stuart who started with me on day one and we have played together ever since, as well as Ruby Jackson!
“These two are now some of my closet friends outside of football too.”
Having grown up at the club many at Manly United have helped and seen her development and growth as a footballer and Vanzino could not be more grateful for her time here.
“I am so grateful to have been a part of such an amazing club, all the way from Dave Mason and Sharon Egger down to the youth programs!
“Manly has such an amazing culture and support network for all involved and they have made my time at the club one to remember!”
Manly United hope this is not a goodbye but rather a see you soon. We wish Jane all the best for her next adventure and are grateful to have had her as part of our family for so long.
