A close 2-1 loss to Illawarra Stingrays in round 11 on Sunday sees the Manly United First Grade Women finish off the first half of their season.
With three wins, six draws and two losses it will be a big second half of the competition for the squad.
Currently sitting in 7th position on the ladder there is a still as chance for Manly United to climb their way to the top as 3rd to 6th position all sit on equal points and only two points ahead of the Manly.
Head coach Tom Hopley is also optimistic as he and his players turn their attention to the second half of the season.
“We’d love to push for a finals berth, and know that we have the quality to, but at this stage we are just taking it one week at a time.” Hopley said.
“We are hoping to continue to improve our game and developing the players in our squad.
“We’ve been able to give first grade opportunities to lots of players in our squad, and to date, they’ve all stepped up and taken their opportunities with both hands.
“I also feel like we’re creating lots of opportunities every game, which is really pleasing to see.
The squad will face Football NSW Institute this Sunday at Cromer Park Field 1 and will be looking for a win after a 0-0 draw against the first-grade team earlier in the year.
Reserve grade on the other hand will be seeking revenge after a close 3-2 loss back in round 1.
Two wins on the weekend could see both teams sit in the top four and so Hopley knows that his squad has work to do.
“We are just continuing to work really hard at developing our style of play with our squad.”
It will be an entertaining afternoon of football here at Cromer Park as Manly United enter the home stretch of the 2022 season.
