WOMEN’S PREVIEW: GLADESVILLE RAVENS V MANLY UNITED
After last weekend’s brilliant 3-0 away win, Manly United are heading to Christie Park for a game against newly promoted Gladesville Ravens.
The Ravens were promoted to the top division from Football NSW League One Women’s after a very successful 2022 campaign, one in which they completed a Treble by winning the Premiership, the Club Championship and the Grand Final. Former Manly United midfielder (and 2020 Championship winning captain) Chloe O’Brien is one of their new signings for the season, while Ravens defender Elizabeth Gilbane has also spent time at Cromer Park.
Manly forward Emily Minett is having a brilliant start to the season. Minett’s hat trick on Sunday has taken her to an early lead in the Golden Boot race and the number nine will be looking to score for the third consecutive game. Goalkeeper Nicole Simonsen also deserves plaudits for keeping a clean sheet against Illawarra Stingrays – her experience will be vital as Manly look to maintain their unbeaten start to 2023.
Our Women’s Reserve Grade side are also flying high after winning their opening two games. The Reserves have already had five different players find the back of the net this year, and like their 1st Grade counterparts they were able to keep the Stingrays scoreless on Sunday.
Tune in on NPL.TV and watch our Women’s 1st Grade team if you can’t get to the game!
