WOMEN’S PREVIEW: APIA LEICHHARDT v MANLY UNITED
Manly United are starting the Easter long weekend with a Women’s / Men’s double header in the Inner West! Our Women’s 1st Grade team head to Lambert Park on Friday for a 1pm game against APIA Leichhardt.
This is a great chance to support your club with our Women’s Reserves, Women’s 1st Grade, Men’s 1st Grade and Men’s U20 side all playing on the same day. Parking is notoriously tricky in Leichhardt, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time when you head to the game!
APIA are currently in third place, one spot behind Manly, and like us are yet to experience defeat in 2023. Ashlie Crofts brings A-League Women experience to the team and will be one of their main attacking weapons, while at the back the Inner West side can call on the experience of former Brighton & Hove Albion defender Charlotte Young. Their last outing was a 1-0 win over NWS Spirit with Sophie Hoban scoring the winning goal.
Our Women’s side had a successful time at Back to Manly Day, extending their unbeaten run to four games with a 2-0 victory over Football NSW Institute. Paige Kingston-Hogg could be important for Manly on Friday – she was pulling the strings from midfield against Institute and set up Sienna Dale’s goal with a sensational pass. Meanwhile, Emily Minett scored again on the weekend and she currently leads the NPL NSW Women’s Golden Boot race with five goals.
The Manly Reserve Grade side are also flying high and are joint leaders of the NPL NSW Women’s Reserve Grade competition. Emily Bastow scored a double in Sunday’s draw with Football NSW Institute and leads our Reserves with three goals.
If you can’t get to the ground for our Women’s 1st Grade clash, tune in on NPL.TV .
