MEN’S PREVIEW: MANLY UNITED v BULLS FC ACADEMY
The Manly United Men’s 1st Grade team is preparing for a Saturday night showdown with Bulls FC Academy! This match will be crucial, with both sides looking to climb the NPL NSW Men’s ladder.
Bulls FC are only three points behind Manly heading into this game. Although Bulls currently sit at the foot of the table, they have defeated second placed Rockdale Ilinden this season and are talented enough to threaten any team in this league. Forward Ali Auglah and goalkeeper Alex Robinson have spent time with Australian national youth teams, while Bulls also have plenty of experience in the dugout, with former Socceroo Zeljko Kalac coaching the team for the 2023 campaign.
It was good to see Jesse Piriz back in the Manly 1st Grade lineup on the weekend. Piriz will be an important player as we look to end our winless run, and his ability to play in both midfield and defence could be helpful during the coming weeks. Dom Ferguson is another player who we can always rely on – his experience and cool head have been very useful to Manly United over the years.
Manly’s U20 team were successful on Saturday, leapfrogging Central Coast Mariners on the U20 table with a 2-1 win. Olly Burden scored his second goal in three games, and Marcus Lal also found the back of the net to become the leading scorer for our U20s with six goals for the season.
Everyone at Manly United Football Club extends their best wishes to young defender Max Martinello, who suffered a serious injury during the weekend’s game against Central Coast Mariners. We wish Max all the best with his rehabilitation and look forward to his return.
