Plenty to Play For
First Grade Men – Match Preview
Manly United FC v Rockdale Ilinden FC – 3:00pm, Sunday 31st July, Cromer Park
With plenty riding on this match, this is a must-win for both sides as they wrap up their 2022 seasons.
A win for Manly could mean the Premiership title, depending on the outcome of the Blacktown City v Sydney Olympic match, while Rockdale need to take maximum points from the clash to have any hope of finals football.
Both sides have impressed throughout the season and have shown their ability to play their particular style of football.
Manly skipper Jimmy Oates has guided his team through the season well, and even nabbed an applaudable number of goals, and will be a source of leadership for the Northern Beaches outfit as they put everything on the line.
Rockdale’s Alec Urosevski will have extra motivation to score goals and get the win as he looks to secure the league’s golden boot.
With plenty to play for, this one will be an action-packed clash.
First Grade Women – Match Preview
Manly United v Emerging Jets – 5:25pm, Sunday 31st July, Cromer Park
The Emerging Jets have their shortest away trip of the season as they travel to Cromer Park to take on Manly United.
The Jets made it hard for Sydney Olympic last week, pushing them all the way and having to settle for a 1-0 defeat. There has definitely been an improvement up North, having lost the first game against Olympic 5-0.
They will take last week’s performance into this week and hope for a positive result.
Manly United registered their jubilee 10th draw of the season, yes, you read correctly, 10th draw out of 15 games. They have only lost two games all season with only the Northern Tigers (2nd place) and Sydney Uni losing the same amount or less.
They haven’t been able to close off games and just like on Sunday, they let a lead slip. A win gives them hope and keeps them in the finals hunt, anything else, could spell the end of their finals dreams.
Manly took the points in a seven-goal thriller last time out, defeating them 4-3 at Lake Macquarie.
