WOMEN’S PREVIEW: MANLY UNITED v FOOTBALL NSW INSTITUTE
The Manly United Women’s team will look to keep their unbeaten run going when they take on Football NSW Institute at Cromer Park.
On Sunday, our Women’s and Men’s 1st Grade teams are playing a double header at Cromer Park as part of Back to Manly Day. This will be a wonderful occasion and a chance to catch up with all the people who have contributed to the history of this club, so make sure you head to Cromer on Sunday – The Far Post will be open from lunch until late into the night!
Football NSW Institute have one win and one defeat so far in 2023. Their last outing was a narrow loss to Sydney Olympic, so we can expect the young side to be competitive on Sunday. Despite their relative inexperience, Institute already boast a goalkeeper with A-League Women experience in the form of Tahlia Franco, while Mikayla Duong caught the eye with a couple of spectacular strikes during their Round 1 clash with Gladesville Ravens.
Manly United have young talent of their own coming through the ranks. 15-year-old Sienna Dale has appeared in all three 1st Grade games for Manly so far, and Dale was certainly an impact player last weekend against the Ravens, setting up Nicole Stuart’s equalising goal with an impressive run and cross. Caitlin Jarvie also caught the eye in Round 3 and will no doubt be one of Manly’s most important players during Sunday’s game.
The Manly Reserve Grade side are flying high, having won all three of their games. India Horsley was impressive in their last outing, and Ruby Egan-Brown has the chance to extend her scoring streak after finding the back of the net in each of her last two appearances.
