Phoebe Gilbane and Levi Kaye named in Team of the Year
Two Manly United players have earned an NPL NSW Team of the Year selection for the 2023 season – Women’s 1st Grade defender Phoebe Gilbane and Men’s 1st Grade goalkeeper Levi Kaye.
Gilbane was an ever-present in our backline over the course of the NPL NSW Women’s campaign, catching the eye with both her defensive prowess and her marauding runs to support the attack. The energetic defender started all 26 1st Grade games, earning several appearances in the NPL NSW Women’s Team of the Week. Impressively, Gilbane was only substituted once this season, which shows how important she has been to our Women’s 1st Grade side.
Kaye made 25 appearances for our Men’s 1st Grade team in 2023, keeping seven clean sheets. He was a regular in the NPL NSW Men’s Team of the Week, especially during the latter part of the campaign, and would frequently make spectacular saves to help Manly earn valuable results. Kaye was an important contributor as Manly climbed the table in the second half of the season to eventually earn a top half finish, so he thoroughly deserves a place in the Team of the Year.
