Maddy Neville: “best ever Manly team”
Maddy Neville has been a pivotal reason why Manly United’s ladies have enjoyed such a stellar campaign.
Along with Alice Wilson and Bella Walker, she makes up the team’s defensive back three.
While the likes of Remy Siemsen and Sophie Nenadovic have scored goals for fun, the form of the three girls at the other end of the pitch has been equally outstanding.
United have conceded a miserly 17 goals from 16 games, a monumental effort at state league level.
The chemical engineering student at Sydney University revealed long term combinations have made the difference.
“We know how one another likes to play,” Neville said.
“This season has been fun, we have chipped in with a combined 10 goals as well, which has been nice.
“I think this team is the best ever Manly one I’ve been involved in, but we haven’t won anything yet.”
Next weekend marks the semi-finals.
It is a time of year which has been cruel on the Manly playing group in recent winters.
“Hopefully it will be different this time,” Neville said.
“We definitely deserve to be where we are, challenging for the title.
“Certainly the potential is there, you just need that bit of luck in key moments.”
