Phil Moss remembers 1995 Grand Final win
Phil Moss remembers it well – even though it was over two decades ago.
The Manly Warringah Dolphins, as they were known back then, won the minor premiership in 1995.
Next step was securing the double, which they did following a 1-0 triumph in the grand final against Blacktown City Demons at Marconi Stadium.
Trophy wise, it has since been a long time between drinks for the club.
Moss, now assistant coach at Sydney FC, would love to see more silverware on display in the Cromer Park clubhouse.
“We had a good team back then, coached by John Kosmina,” he recalled this week.
“Every game we battled, Manly were a team who loved to compete in all aspects of the game.
“All these years later, to sit back and have a beer with the blokes you won a premiership with – they are lifelong memories.
“I’ve seen the (Manly) boys play this year – they are well balanced and have adapted well after Warren (Grieve) took over from Paul Dee.”
Moss also stressed the importance of keeping things simple from the opening whistle.
“Your preparation needs to be good, and you need to seize opportunities,” he said.
“Mentally you need to be switched on, it isn’t always tactical, technical or physical.
“”I wish them well this weekend.”
