It’s business as usual for Lobb
Given Jamie Lobb is days out from the biggest game of his life, he is remarkably calm.
An environmental engineer by day at Barangaroo in Sydney’s CBD, Lobb is treating Sunday’s grand final versus APIA Leichhardt as just another game.
“I’ve found there isn’t much point getting too worked up before kick-off,” the Manly United skipper said.
“I think the wide grass pitch at Leichhardt Oval will suit us, plus we have momentum after our finals run.
“Given I also spent a year at APIA back in 2014, beating them in a grand final would be that little bit sweeter.”
Lobb knows APIA’s numerous attacking threats.
The left back is fully aware if the Tigers are ‘on’ early, it could be a game to forget.
“Sean Symonds, (Adrian) Ucchino, David D’Apuzzo, the list goes on,” he said.
“We can hold our own against them, we have plenty of match winners ourselves – look at what Dylan Macallister, Scott Balderson, Choc (Brendan Cholakian) and Dejan (Pandurevic) are capable of.
“Ultimately we should just enjoy the occasion, it has been a great season so far.”
If Manly do emerge triumphant, watch Lobb closely when he collects the winners trophy.
He may appear laid back, but come show time at 4pm, he will give his all in the Manly strip.
