Manly determined not to be stung by Stingrays
Remy Siemsen and her Manly United teammates know what is coming at Cromer Park this Sunday – stopping the Illawarra Stingrays is another matter.
The two squads have developed a serious rivalry in recent times, and Siemsen knows revenge will be on the cards.
“Last year we had a great game against them at home, we won 4-1 from memory,” she said.
“I’m sure they (Illawarra) haven’t forgotten that, it (Cromer Park) is a long drive if you leave with no points.
“No doubt they will be fired up and it is definitely our biggest test since Macarthur in round one.”
Siemsen believes the difference will be Manly’s back three – Alice Wilson, Maddie Neville and Bella Walker.
“I rate all three girls so highly, they could easily play at a higher level (W-League) in my opinion,” she said.
“They are always rock solid and the reason we have been so successful.
“I’m sure (striker) Michelle Carney will keep them busy, but thankfully the Stingrays also have a few players away with the Matildas.
“We are definitely looking for our fourth win in a row.”
Kick-off at Cromer Park is 4pm.
